What you may notice
- Cloudy, yellow or brown water
- A musty or chlorine-like smell
- A strange taste
- Sediment or grit in filters and taps
- Slime or black flecks
- Skin irritation or stomach upsets in the household that are not explained by anything else
- More than six months since the last clean
What to do
- Stop drinking water from the tap if it smells or looks wrong, and use bottled water.
- Check when the tank was last cleaned and ask your landlord.
- Book a clean and disinfection.
- Ask for a lab test after cleaning.
